Portuguese Researchers Aim to Create a ‘Personal Trainer’ Robot for Elderly

Alexandre Bernardino, principal investigator (PI) of the ERI AHA on the Portuguese side, gave interviews to the Portuguese media about some of the results already obtained during the first year of the ERI, as well as about the goals for the next three years.  

AHA:Augmented Human Assistance” project proposes the development and deployment of a novel Robotic Assistance Platform designed to support healthy lifestyle, sustain active aging, and support those with special needs and disabilities. 

The researcher from ISR/IST was one of the speakers at the Conference “Envelhecimento no Século XXI” (Aging in the 21st century), held on October 27, in Lisbon. 

The ERI AHA is led by Alexandre Bernardino (ISR-IST-UL) and Daniel P. Siewiorek (CMU), in the scope of the CMU Portugal Program, funded by FCT. It involves IST (Instituto Superior Técnico), Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), and two companies (PLUX and YDreams Robotics).
