Amaro de Sousa is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics at the University of Aveiro. He is also a research member at the Institute of Telecommunications. He teaches courses in the areas of telecommunications, networking, traffic engineering and basic informatics. His current research interests are on network design and traffic engineering of telecommunication systems, optimization modelling and solving techniques.

He holds a Ph.D. degree in Electrotechnical Engineering from the University of Aveiro, a M.Sc. degree in Telecommunications Engineering from University College of North Wales, UK, and a B.Sc. degree in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering from the University of Aveiro.

Associate Professor António Rui de Oliveira e Silva Borges received his undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Porto's School of Engineering in 1976. He went on to complete a Masters of Electronic Engineering through the Netherlands organization for international cooperation in higher education (Nuffic) in 1978, and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Aveiro University in 1995. Oliveira conducts research at IEETA where his research interests include tomographic reconstruction, inverse problems, and distributed systems. He currently teaches Operating Systems and Distributed Systems at the University of Aveiro Department of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics.

João Paulo Barraca is a researcher at the Telecommunications Institute in the Heterogeneous Networking Group. His current research interests are topics related to self organization in mesh and ad-hoc networks; in particular, he is especially interested in the application of distributed mechanisms for organization taking in consideration the advantages of cross-layering. At the University of Aveiro he teaches as an Invited Lecturer in courses related to self-organization, broadband networks and network fundamentals. João Paulo Barraca holds a Licenciatura in Computers and Telematics Engineering and a Masters in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering.

Nuno Borges Carvalho has worked as a scientist researcher at the Instituto de Telecomunicações, and was engaged to different projects on nonlinear CAD, circuits and systems design and RF system integration. His main research interests include CAD for nonlinear circuits/systems, nonlinear distortion analysis in microwave/wireless circuits and systems and measurement of nonlinear phenomena. Recently he has also been involved in design of dedicated radios and systems for newly emerging wireless technologies. He is a member of the Portuguese Engineering Association, an IEEE Senior Member and an URSI member.
Borges de Carvalho holds diploma and doctoral degrees in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering from the University of Aveiro.

Paulo Bacelar Reis Pedreiras has been on staff at the Electronics and Telecommunications department at the University of Aveiro since 1998. He earned his degree in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering in 1997, going on to earn his Ph.D. in Electrotechnical Engineering in 2003. He now teaches Electronics IV, Real-time Systems, Embedded Systems Specification, Modeling and Design, Industrial Communications, Computer Architecture II, Computer Architecture I, and Electrical Laboratory Techniques.  Pedreiras’ research interests include industrial communications, real-time operating systems, time-constrained wireless communications, and mobile robotics. Reis Pedreiras is currently working on several research projects, including HaRTES (Hard Real-Time Ethernet  ), ACORD (Adaptative Coordination of Robotic Teams), ARTISTDesign (Network of Excellence on Embedded Systems Design).

Paulo Salvador is an Assistant Professor at the University of Aveiro. He graduated in 1998 with a degree in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering from the University of Aveiro, going on to study there for his Ph.D., which he earned in April 2005. Salvador now works for the University’s Department of Electronics, Telecommunications, and Informatics. Salvador’s research interests include traffic engineering, traffic characterization and modeling, traffic measurements, network security, and multimedia content distribution.
Salvador is currently involved in research at both the Institute of Telecommunications as a member of the Networks and Multimedia’s group and the Network of Excellence Euro-NF.

Rui Aguiar is a professor at the University of Aveiro, and leads a research group in Instituto de Telecomunicacoes. He teaches advanced courses in the areas of digital electronics and networking. His current research interests are in the implementation of communication systems, specially on heteregoeneous environments towards next generation networks. Aguiar works with the Masters of Information Networking program (MSIN) students in Aveiro.
Aguiar holds a Ph.D. in Electrotechnic Engineering, and an M.Sc. and B.S. in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering, all from the University of Aveiro.
