Armando Nolasco Pinto received the bachelor’s degree in electronic and telecommunications engineering and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Aveiro, Aveiro, Portugal, in 1994 and 1999, respectively. In 1994, he joined the Instituto de Telecomunications as a researcher, and in 1997, he joined the Electrical, Telecommunications and Informatics Department of the University of Aveiro. During the academic year of 2006–2007 he was a Visiting Professor at the Institute of Optics, University of Rochester, Rochester, New York. At present, he leads a research group dedicated to the optimization of optical communication systems and networks. He has published more than 90 scientific papers in international journals and conferences. He is presently an Associate Editor of “The International Journal of Optics” (Hindawi Publishing Corporation). Nolasco Pinto is a Senior Member of the IEEE and a member of the Optical Society of America. |
